Giles P. Carnes Of Bethlehem, PA Charged With Impersonating A Soldier After Traffic Stop – Guardian Of Valor

Tewksbury Township, New Jersey –   Tewksbury Police initiated a traffic stop on Giles P. Carnes of Bethlehem, P.A.  During the traffic stop, officers found that Giles had a warrant out of Bethlehem for retail theft. The charge stemmed from Giles trying to steal a DeWalt drill from Lowes, he dropped the drill and fled in a Dodge Durango. Below is a snapshot of the report from the Bethlehem P.D.

During the traffic stop, Giles was also found to be in possession of a knife, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. During questioning, Giles told the officers he was in the Army, Under New Jersey’s Title 38A, Section 38A 14-5 it is a fourth degree crime to impersonate a Veteran or a member of the Armed Services.

Carnes was initially charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was sent to Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. On Tuesday, prosecutors added a charge of impersonating a member of the United States Armed Forces. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 9th, he is facing retail theft and receiving stolen property charges in Lehigh County, for allegedly stealing a Dewalt drill June 18 from the Lowe’s off Eighth Avenue in Bethlehem.

We did some searching trying to find more information on Giles, he has a long history of theft and other crimes. He also likes to pretend to be a Soldier, we found the following photo-shopped pictures on his Facebook profile. The quality of the photo-shop looks like it was done with a pair of scissors.

New Jersey is also pushing a stiffer law that would make the fines and punishment harsher in these cases. We will continue following this story to see what his punishment will be in the above charges.
