Department Of The Army CID Responds Concerning Nigerian Fraud And Soldier Impersonation Scams

Department Of The Army, Criminal Investigation Command responds to the uptick in Nigerian scam artists stealing Soldiers Identities in order to scam money and other things of value. They have classified these frauds as “419” frauds as this is the Nigerian country code. They estimate that American citizens are losing more than 2 billion dollars a year to these scams, yes Billions!

This memo also contains tips to prevent your identity from being stolen, and to help prevent you from falling for these scams. We have also attached the .pdf copy of this memo for download.

  1. I have quiet a few names of fake soldiers trying the Nigerian Romance Scam…. How do I report them? I have their facebook names and yahoo messenger names and the names they are using on dating sites…..

  2. I am from Australia and have been targeted by a nigerian using a us soldiers idendity to try and scam money from me i have photos that he has used and his yahoo account how do i report this
