Seasonal Theme Parks are a thing across the nation every year, with corn mazes and other attractions. One such park, Corn Dawgs, in Loganville, Georgia, honors someone each year with their corn maze. This year they have chosen Fallen Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle.
Chris was a highly decorated Navy SEAL, who served four tours of duty in Iraq, it is said he has over 160 confirmed kills. Kyle was shot and killed at a shooting range near Chalk Mountain, Texas, with his friend, Chad Littlefield. The man accused of killing them, Eddie Ray Routh, was found guilty of both murders and later sentenced to life in prison without parole.
A film adaptation of Kyle’s autobiography called American Sniper, directed by Clint Eastwood, was released in December 2014.
The theme park, Corn Dawgs, opens for business on 18 September and have over 30 activities including the corn maze.
“We have the utmost respect for all those who served or are serving and with everything that has been going in our country we felt we needed to do something patriotic,” said Misty Duren of Corn Dawgs. “And we wanted to pay homage to a true American hero. Chris Kyle gave so much to us and we thought this was a good way to do it.”
Corn Dawgs is located at 995 Leone Avenue in Loganville, off Highway 81.
In addition to the 7-acre corn maze, Corn Dawgs seasonal theme park offers the traditional pumpkin patch, farm hayrides, petting zoo, cow train, pedal racers, bungee jumping and jumping pillows, playgrounds, ziplines, mountain slide and more.
“This year we’re doing Bazooka Ball in a friendly fire arena and we also have a farm scene investigation, sort of like Clue,” Durden said. “We also have a corn box, which is a lot of fun. It’s like a sand box, but just with corn kernels instead of sand.”
